The University museum is an ideological, academic-research, science-educational subdivision of the HEI.
The University museum is an important tool of ideological work, an active center of moral, aesthetic, ethic upbringing of students and the university staff.
The museum collects, studies, scientifically documents and provides the storage of museum materials having educational, scientific, cultural value. The museum funds are the basis to create the expositions. Documents, photos, exhibit items presented by the museum allow to evaluate astonishing changes that have taken place at the university in 60 years.
The museum of South Kazakhstan Engineering University was founded to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Kazakh Chemical Technological Institute in 1996. After merging of South Kazakhstan Engineering University and SKSU in 1998 M.Auezov South Kazakhstan State University was established.
Rector, professor Bishimbayev V.K. suggested to reconstruct the museum completely in modern style and original design.
The design project of the new museum was created by the chief architect of Kzylorda oblast Sapargaliyev M.K.
The displayed expositions give the information: history of HEI establishment, modern SKSU, M.O.Auezov life and activity, history of rectors, archeology and ethnography of South Kazakhstan, historical chronicles. There are standswith pictures and information about winners of the contest “Best teacher” (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008) that have got grants. There is also information about State Prize-2005 for the best research development.
A new section is devoted to innovation developments. A large supply of materials and information is accumulated and displayed in research fields:
1. Environment health protection
4. Processes and devices of chemical technology, etc.
Some expositions are devoted to students’ life: KVN, Junior assembly of Kazakhstan Peoples, students’ building teams; research, academic, sport achievements, etc.
These materials are being used by students and teachers for reported at conferences, meetings with tutors and students on the themes: “HEI history”, “University graduates”, archeology and ethnography and etc.
From the day of the new museum opening (2003) there were very many visitors from NIS and abroad. The opinions are in the museum book for honorable guests. Among them: President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A.Nazarbayev, M.Shakhanov, M.Zholdasbeko, N.Nadirov, Murat Auezov, G.Rudov, M.Otebayev, Absattar-kazhi Derbesali, parliament deputies of the Republic of Kazakhstan, graduates of last years, and also many guests from other countries of the world, ambassadors: from Iran, Spain, India, France, Ukraine and others, having expressed their admiration of rich history of HEI, delicate design of the museum.
