On January 10, 2018, the delegation of University of Sangmyung (South Korea) headed by President- Baek Ehung Gi , Dean of Office of International Affairs- Kwon Haesook, Coordinator of International Exchange and Cooperation Team- Jeon Hyunjung, officially visited M. Auezov South Kazakhstan State University. During the visit, the delegation met with the rector of M.Auezov SKSU Zh.U Myrkhalykov, where the Parties discussed the operation plan for the opening of the Korean educational center "Sejong" with the assistance of the King Sejong Institute, whose goal is to organize language courses on learning the Korean language and organization various events dedicated to Korean culture. Recall that this institution was established and started its development in 2007, 13 schools in three countries, and now has become the largest Korean educational organization in 131 schools in 54 countries. In Kazakhstan, Korean centers operate in the cities of Taldykorgan, Aktobe, Astana, Almaty. In cities Almaty and Astana, Korean educational centers were created with the assistance of the King Sejong Institute. Given the growing demand for Korean language in the southern region this will be the third Korean Education Center in Kazakhstan, which will be funded under the Fund of the Institute of King Sejong.
As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached between the Parties on the organization of an academic exchange of 5 + 5 on mutually beneficial terms, where students will have the opportunity to complete a one-semester educational course at partner universities, and to expand cooperation in the commercialization of joint research and development experience in the relevant areas of scientific research. During the visit, the delegation member visited scientific schools and research institutes, during which scientists of the university presented scientific and technical developments and projects in the field of textile and food engineering, building materials, biotechnology and ecology, etc.
